Northwest Summer Art Institute
solo project
time frame: 5 weeks
Visual Designer/Illustrator
The NSAI is committed to showcasing the interdependence between art and nature, and offers an immersive summer program that combines classroom instruction with outdoor activities and the use of natural materials. Through a range of workshops, participants will have the opportunity to engage with the stunning landscapes of Whatcom and Skagit Counties, drawing inspiration from the beauty of the region's outdoor spaces.
goal: design a booklet mailer showcasing the institute’s upcoming summer workshops.
solution: I was inspired by my childhood memories of receiving my summer camp booklet in the spring, spending hours reading about all of the fun things I could do and envisioning my perfect summer. My goal was to create a design that would capture that sense of excitement and possibility, while also evoking a nostalgic feeling through the use of green and gold colors reminiscent of summer camps in the 60's and 70's. I opted for a bold typeface that are similar to letters on a bulletin board, giving the booklet a fun and playful feel.
It was also important to showcase the incredible work done in previous workshops, to inspire and excite potential participants. By incorporating this element into the design, the booklet serves not only as a guide to upcoming summer activities, but also as a testament to the creativity and talent of previous participants.
